Father Balázs Szűcs launched the “quiet room” program at the Budapest Correctional Institution after the arrest of director Péter Pál Juhász in May, with which they “helped young people change their view of the world and themselves in a positive direction.” The former pastor of the Pázmány Péter Catholic University was permanently banned from the priesthood by the Vatican in 2016 due to sexual abuse allegations.
The correctional facility director suspected of sexual coercion also tried several child protection foundations that focused on fighting drugs. They were unsuccessful.
