Texas, Arkansas early voting for primary election begins

Nearly 19 million Texans are registered to vote in key races and multiple party propositions during early voting through Feb. 27 to avoid Election Day lines.

  • On Tuesday, Feb. 17, in-person early voting began in Texas and Arkansas and runs through Friday, Feb. 27 ahead of the March 3, 2026 primary.
  • Secretary of State Jane Nelson said there are 18,657,918 registered voters this primary and urged early voting to avoid Election Day lines and plan what ID to bring; Texans may vote at any county polling location.
  • In Miller County, residents can vote at the American Legion Building, and Beth Bond said turnout has been steady, while Harrison County has 7 polling places and recommends studying sample ballots.
  • Several key races and multiple propositions, including 10 GOP and 13 Democratic ballot items, are on the March 3 ballot, with the U.S. Senate primary featuring incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn facing challengers.
  • Because Ken Paxton is seeking another office, Texans will, for the first time in a decade, vote for a new attorney general, and all 150 Texas House seats and congressional seats are on the ballot in newly redrawn districts.
