The plans that State Secretary Eelco Eerenberg (Finance) must present to save the Box 3 legislation in the Senate hang like a dark cloud over the budget negotiations. The choices the Cabinet makes have a major impact on the funds remaining to cover other matters.
The talks on the national budget between cabinet members and opposition parties will continue in the coming days. On Monday, PRO will speak with both the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers, as well as with Minister of Finance Eelco Heinen (VVD), sources tell the ANP.
Tension is rising in The Hague as the 2027 budget must be ready by Friday. The most important question is whether the cabinet can choose a clear course.
