Home Guard Arrested, Dismissed From Service for Assaulting Woman in Hyderabad
- On Friday evening, RPF Home Guard Kadiga Anand was arrested after a video surfaced showing him allegedly slapping a woman and dragging her by her hair for about 200 metres near Hafeezpet railway station.
- Miyapur police registered a suo motu case against Anand, booking him under Sections 74 and 118 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for assault against a woman and causing hurt using dangerous means.
- Describing the conduct as "abominable," Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand ordered immediate action against the Home Guard, who was on deputation from the Vikarabad police.
- Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh confirmed Anand has been removed from service, stating the department maintains "zero tolerance towards crimes against women."
- The accused remains in police custody and will be produced before a court following the incident, which was reported between 8.30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday.
