Sochi Olympic champion Jacobs wearing Canada colours again at men's curling worlds

  • Brad Jacobs, along with vice Marc Kennedy, second Brett Gallant, and lead Ben Hebert, will represent Canada at the BKT World Men's Curling Championship starting on Saturday after winning the Montana's Brier in Kelowna, B.C.
  • Having last represented Canada over a decade ago, Jacobs earned his spot after his Alberta side won four straight elimination games at the Montana's Brier, defeating Manitoba's Matt Dunstone in the final.
  • The nine-day competition, which includes 13 teams and headliners such as Bruce Mouat of Scotland, Niklas Edin of Sweden, and Marc Muskatewitz of Germany, will determine most of the countries that will compete at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, Italy.
  • Jacobs, who settled for silver in 2013 and won Olympic gold at the Sochi Games the following year, expressed excitement about representing Canada again, stating, "Putting on Canada's colours again Friday at the Temple Gardens Centre was a feeling that was tough to describe."
  • The top six teams at the end of round-robin play on April 4 will qualify for the playoffs, with medal games set for April 6, while a last-chance qualifier in December in Kelowna, B.C. Will determine the final two Olympic berths.
