The German Federal Government is planning a fundamental reform of the taxation of cryptovalues. According to a draft speaker from the SPD-led Ministry of Finance, profits from the sale of Bitcoin, Ether and other exchange cryptovalues will in future be subject to tax regardless of the duration of the holding.
So far, profits from cryptovalues can usually remain tax-free after a holding period of twelve months. According to a media report, this could soon change.
