- Vijay argued the Parandur site contains around 55 per cent wetlands and waterbodies, creating significant flood risks and aircraft safety concerns. The government plans to identify an alternative location minimizing disruption to farmers while supporting state development.
- Former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin criticized the decision as a "massive disappointment" and an "irreversible setback" for Tamil Nadu's growth. He warned that restarting the process elsewhere could delay development and weaken investment prospects.
- Thennarasu alleged the project was scrapped for political reasons, warning that without a major airport, Tamil Nadu risks losing industrial investments to competing states. The government will conduct feasibility studies to identify a suitable alternative site.
