- The drill allowed the military to gather operational data on obstacle deployment speed while 37-year-old long-term care manager Kay Li observed, "We could end up in a war."
- Chieh Chung, an expert at Tamkang University, warned that if the PLA controls the bridge and Tamsui River estuary, they could link landing bases and advance toward Taipei.
