Sunrisers Hyderabad signed South African pacer Gerald Coetzee for the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2026 season to replace David Payne, who was ruled out due to an ankle injury.
Payne had joined the squad as a replacement for Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards, playing two matches before his ankle injury ended his tournament run.
Coetzee brings experience from stints with Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans, claiming 15 wickets in 14 matches, and was part of South Africa's T20 World Cup squad.
Under the leadership of Ishan Kishan, the franchise currently sits in fifth place in the standings, with Coetzee joining for a fee of INR 2 crore.
Today, April 18, Sunrisers Hyderabad faces Chennai Super Kings in the 27th game of the tournament at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, hoping to move further up the standings.
