The festival season is opening up, accompanied by a climate of uncertainty due to the increase in the budget cuts decided by the public authorities. Between resistance, privatization and the risk of disappearance, the associations are stepping up their efforts to survive and maintain their activities.
Despite good financial results, the Bregenz Festival will have to make do with significantly less funding starting in 2025 – unlike Salzburg. The Minister of Culture speaks of "broad shoulders" that will carry more.
