Study: Education still pays, but barriers to upward mobility persist in Illinois

ILLINOIS, JUL 18 – The study reveals that students from high-income families earn $15,000 more annually than low-income peers and racial earnings gaps exceed $18,000 despite similar degrees, researchers say.

A study suggests the American Dream is still more elusive for some people in Illinois than for others, and that the pathway up the economic ladder is not easily scaled.
