Steve Scalise drops out of US Speaker race

House Republicans are facing divisions and conflicts in choosing a new Speaker, as they still have to come together and put aside their own agendas to focus on what the country needs.
Congressman Jim Jordan is seen as a potential alternative for the hard right, as a strong ally of Donald Trump and a popular voice in conservative media. However, at least five GOP lawmakers have come out against a Jordan speakership.
In the meantime, Congressman Patrick McHenry will continue to fulfill the role of Speaker pro tempore, with the possibility of being granted additional powers if Republicans cannot decide on a new Speaker.
