National Assembly Approves Additional State for South-East

- A principal officer said the measure won unanimous support and lawmakers set up a subcommittee to identify areas for carving six new states, chaired by Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Chief Whip of the Senate.
- The joint committee will include the resolution in a report due to the National Assembly in the first week of November, showing regional totals: South South seven states; South West seven; South East six; North West eight; North East seven; North Central seven.
- A subcommittee member from the Northwest vowed to review all 55 requests, while Deputy President of the Senate Senator Barau I. Jibrin and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt—Hon. urged lawmakers to transmit amendments this year.
