Public hearing set on OpenAI, Oracle data center’s proposal to discharge wastewater into Saline River

SALINE TWP., MI — State environmental regulators have scheduled a virtual public hearing next month on a proposed permit to allow treated wastewater to be discharged from The Barn, a massive 2.2 million-square-foot hyperscale data center for OpenAI and Oracle under construction in Saline Township, into the Saline River.

The state will hold a virtual public hearing Oct. 21 on a proposed wastewater discharge permit for the Related Digital data center site in Saline Township. The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy will begin the online event at 6 p.m. with a presentation about the draft permit and an opportunity for questions. ...
