State prosecutors appeal Supreme Court to toughen sentences for 2021 Lod lynching per
Prosecutors said the sentences of 12 to 14 years handed down in September by the Central District Court in Lod do not reflect the severity of the attack, the fatal injuries caused to Yigal Yehoshua and the incident’s clear terrorist and racist characteristics
In the district court, seven of the defendants were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 12 to 14 years, depending on the degree of their involvement. The prosecution argued that these sentences do not sufficiently reflect the seriousness of the acts, the serious harm caused to the deceased and his family, and the terrorist characteristics of the incident.
The Criminal Division of the State Attorney's Office has filed an appeal against the sentences given to the defendants in the lynching of the late Yigal Yehoshua.
