Youth softball: Velocity wind up 2nd at national tournament

EAGAN — The Willmar Velocity wrapped a memorable summer Sunday with a second-place finish in a national tournament. The Velocity age 12-and-under fastpitch softball team lost in the championship game of the North American Fastpitch Association Northern Nationals to the Wisconsin Chaos 5-4. The Starved Rock Bandits, a who’s who softball team from the Illinois Valley with players from Hall, Princeton, L-P, St. Bede and Serena, went 7-0 to win the South East USSSA Nationals last week in Nashville (16U Open) division.
