New York Homeowners to Receive $2 Billion in STAR School Property Tax Relief
Most homeowners will get $350 to $600, while seniors can receive $700 to $1,500, as payments roll out before school tax deadlines.
On Tuesday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that nearly 3 million New Yorkers will receive more than $2 billion in property tax relief this summer and fall through The New York State School Tax Relief Program.
Most eligible homeowners will receive between $350 and $600 in relief, while seniors receiving Enhanced STAR credit can expect checks between $700 and $1,500 to offset property tax burdens.
Regional distribution includes $659.2 million for Long Island and $461.1 million for the Mid-Hudson region, with deliveries continuing statewide throughout summer and fall.
Residents in Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse can expect their checks soon because these areas face school tax deadlines in late June and July requiring expedited processing.
To ensure timely direct deposit delivery, homeowners should register at least 15 business days before their local school tax due date; STAR recipients can track check status online.
