South African police arrest UK fugitive sought in alleged killings of his wife and 2 daughters
Police say Interpol helped track the suspect after the bodies of his wife and two daughters were found in Bedfordshire.
- On Friday, the South African Police Service arrested Ndodana Mkhanyski Tshuma in Kensington, Johannesburg, following an intensive intelligence-led operation involving Interpol and Crime Intelligence units.
- The victims—Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, Natalie, 15, and Nala, five—were discovered dead in a £1.3 million home in Bedfordshire on Monday after relatives raised concerns they had not been seen for several days.
- Traveling via Zimbabwe, Tshuma fled the United Kingdom from London Heathrow Airport on Saturday, July 4. SAPS officers detained him in possession of a firearm during the Johannesburg operation.
- Remanded into custody, the suspect is scheduled to appear in a South African court on Monday. Bedfordshire Police confirmed work is underway to return him to Britain for legal proceedings.
- Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane stated the arrest demonstrates South Africa is "not a safe haven for fugitives." Detective Inspector Lee Martin noted the investigation remains ongoing with international partners including Interpol.
