Sophie Kinsella, author of Shopaholic series of novels, dies aged 55
Sophie Kinsella, author of the Shopaholic series, died peacefully after a two-year battle with glioblastoma, which has a median survival rate of 12 to 18 months, Brain Tumour Research said.

- Sophie Kinsella disclosed in April 2024 that she had been diagnosed with glioblastoma and underwent surgery followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy at University College Hospital, London.
- More than 50 million copies of her books sold worldwide, and the Shopaholic series inspired the 2009 film Confessions of a Shopaholic starring Isla Fisher.
- Kinsella is survived by her husband, Henry Wickham, and their five children; her family said she died peacefully with final days filled with family, music, warmth and Christmas joy.
- Kinsella released The Burnout in October 2023 and remained active as a novelist, with her final novel What Does It Feel Like? reflecting her recovery and set for October 2024 publication.
