Somalia Signs Defence Agreement with Qatar

Somalia signed, on Monday, 19 January 2026, a defence agreement with Qatar, one week after suspending all cooperation with the United Arab Emirates. The agreement provides for the strengthening of bilateral military ties between Mogadishu and Doha, in particular the development of the training of the Somali armed forces and the exchange of military expertise and defence capabilities.
