Between 1934 and 1943, the U.S. Treasury Department commissioned over 1,400 murals for post offices nationwide as part of New Deal relief programs. Nearly 20 murals went up at post offices in Minnesota. One in Hastings is called "Arrival of Fall Catalog," painted by artist Richard Haines in 1938.
