So Donald Trump wants more border security? Here's how the RCMP is ramping up efforts
Canada has pledged $1.3 billion to enhance border security due to U.S. President Donald Trump's concerns over illegal migration and drug smuggling.
Ottawa has denied the severity of Trump's claims about illegal migration and fentanyl but has committed to improving border patrols.
The Canada Border Services Agency will receive $355 million to recruit new officers and analysts, while the Royal Canadian Mounted Police aims to boost border security through 24-hour patrols.
Data shows that since 2022, CBSA agents seized at least 2,345 firearms and over 24,000 kilograms of drugs, including fentanyl, at the Canada-U.S. border.
