Six health workers kidnapped in Ondo
Three abducted health workers were rescued by Amotekun after a midnight attack on a health centre in Akure, with victims now receiving treatment, officials said.
- Unknown gunmen kidnapped staff from a health center in the Oke Ijebu area of Akure, Ondo State, during a midnight raid. Witnesses reported attackers arrived in a large bus and forcibly took personnel from the facility opposite Mega School.
- Amotekun Corps Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye clarified that only three health workers were kidnapped, refuting initial eyewitness reports of six. "Only three health workers were kidnapped and not six," Adeleye said.
- The Rapid Response Squad also rescued a man and his 15-year-old son abducted at Pelebe, along Oda-Akure Road. Operatives intervened after a heavy confrontation with kidnappers around 1:00 a.m.
- Rescued personnel are now receiving treatment at an Amotekun health facility. Patients present during the attack were left unharmed, though visibly shaken by the incident.
- Commander Adeleye urged residents to provide timely information to security agencies to enhance safety across Ondo State. He emphasized the government prioritizes lives and property protection following these overnight operations.
