The victim of domestic violence after the complaint is entitled to silence in court. The minister explained that the initial witness is not valued because it is legally impossible.
On 3 April 2025, the Senate voted to incorporate the concept of coercive control into the definition of spousal harassment. This reform, welcomed by Aurora Bergé, Minister responsible for Equality between Women and Men, aims to better protect victims of psychological, economic and financial violence, often difficult to identify and prove.
