Si Woo Kim just misses history at Byron Nelson, settling for 60 after a bogey on the final hole
Si Woo Kim carded 11 birdies and held a five-shot lead after his 60, one stroke shy of becoming the 15th PGA Tour player to break 60.
On Friday, 30-year-old Si Woo Kim shot an 11-under 60 at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson, narrowly missing the 16th sub-60 round in PGA Tour history after bogeying the 18th hole at TPC Craig Ranch.
Before the final hole, Kim had remained bogey-free through 17 holes, carding 11 birdies including seven in eight consecutive holes on the back nine.
After a solid drive on the par-4 18th, Kim flew his approach 64 feet over the green, then chipped to about 19 feet before missing the par putt that would have secured a 59.
Despite the late bogey, Kim holds an 18-under total and a five-shot lead heading into the weekend, with oddsmakers establishing him as the clear favorite to win.
Kim told Golf Channel afterward, "Because everyone can shoot 59 or 60," noting he is focusing on his game to secure his first win since the 2023 Sony Open.
