Mr. Resident Evil Signs a Deal with Mr. Stellar Blade
The South Korean publisher will back Unbound’s unannounced PC and console games as the studio builds around 50 developers.
- South Korean publisher Shift Up has acquired Unbound Inc., the new Tokyo-based studio founded by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, with CEO Hyung-Tae Kim supporting development of original PC and console titles.
- Mikami, an icon of Japanese horror, founded Unbound in 2022 after leaving Tango Gameworks, which he established under Bethesda following his time at Capcom and PlatinumGames directing Resident Evil and its 2002 remake.
- With around 50 developers, Unbound plans to create original intellectual property targeting the global market. Mikami stated, "We believe we can respect each other as creators and make games together."
