China's Shenzhou XXIII Astronauts Send Mid-Autumn Festival Greetings From Space
The three astronauts sent greetings from orbit and said they miss family and friends in Hong Kong after four months in space.
- On Friday, the Shenzhou-23 crew aboard Tiangong sent heartfelt Mid-Autumn Festival greetings via video from 400km above Earth.
- Launched aboard the Shenzhou-23 spacecraft on May 24, the crew entered Tiangong on May 25 and has worked in orbit for four months.
- Lai Ka-ying, the first astronaut from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, expressed longing for home, saying, "Through the porthole, what I miss most is the lights of thousands of homes."
- Commander Zhu Yangzhu stated, "Though the Earth is far away, our hearts are always beating in sync with our motherland," while Zhang Zhiyuan urged families to watch for Tiangong in the night sky.
- Moved by letters from Hong Kong and Macau students, Lai urged them to cultivate patriotism as the crew collectively wished for a prosperous motherland and happy Mid-Autumn Festival for all.
