At a music festival in Hückelhoven on Saturday eleven people were slightly injured by hail grains. Meteorologist Jörg Kachelmann then made serious accusations. The organizer counters.
Curved trees, full cellars, covered trees: Heavy thunderstorms cross the south of Germany. Particularly affected are the northern Upper Bavaria, Lower Bavaria, the Upper Palatinate and Swabia.
The weather: changing to cloudy and especially in the northwest half as well as in the southeast showers and individual thunderstorms. Longer dry with loosenings from Baden-Württemberg to Franken to Saxony and the Oder. 17 to 23 degrees. On Friday mostly cloudy and area-like rain, isolated thunderstorms. 17 to 26 degrees.
On Wednesday, hail, thunderstorms and storms mainly crossed the south-east of Baden-Württemberg. According to SWR meteorologist, however, the danger of severe weather is over in the evening.
Part of Germany is facing an uncomfortable Wednesday. Severe storms, hail and hurricanes are threatening – especially in two federal states.
After heavy hail at night in parts of Bavaria, the German Weather Service predicts heavy storms for Wednesday as well. In some regions hail grains are expected to be the size of a chicken ice cream.
