Sentencing date set for owner of Hawkeye Waste Systems in case stemming from employee’s death

Lang 1/22/25 A sentencing date has been set for the owner of a Quad Cities-based waste management company in a case stemming from the death of an employee at its Iowa City location. The Johnson County Attorney’s Office says that on January 16th 83-year-old James Watts of Bettendorf pleaded guilty to a charge of Failure to Maintain Workers’ Comp Insurance on behalf of himself and his business, Hawkeye Waste Systems.
