This rate increases "almost continuously since 2000" in connection with the various pension reforms, notes the study, and it is at "its highest level since it was measured", i.e. since 1975.
The employment rate of 55-64 year olds is at a record high in France, but remains below the European average, according to a study by the Ministry of Labour.
The proportion of persons aged 60-64 who are employed now stands at 42.4 per cent, the highest rate since it began to be calculated in 1975, as a result of the pension reform which has extended professional careers by extending the age of entitlement to a pension.

They have experience and a desire to work, but they still cannot find a job. According to the Center for Economic Analysis CETA, the number of people over fifty who cannot find work in the long term is increasing. Since 2019, their number has increased by approximately 33 thousand to more than 110 thousand people today.
