Senate votes to ratify NATO membership for Finland and Sweden

Summary by Ground News
More than two-thirds of the U.S. Senate approved on Wednesday Finland and Sweden's accession to NATO. It is the most significant expansion of the 30-member alliance since the 1990s as it faces fallout from Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Sweden and Finland applied in May, setting their longstanding stance of military nonalignment aside. It was a shift of major security arrangements for the two countries after Russia launched war on Ukraine. The two countries have won ratification from more than half of the NATO member nations in the roughly three months since the two applied.
