Sen. Elizabeth Warren falls on Senate floor
UNITED STATES CAPITOL, JUL 31 – Senator Elizabeth Warren, 76, fell while leaning on a desk during a Senate vote and was aided by colleagues from both parties, highlighting concerns about fall risks among older adults.
During a Senate floor vote on Thursday, July 31, 2025, Sen. Elizabeth Warren fell backward, prompting quick assistance from colleagues.
Leaning against a small desk during the vote on Trump's nominee to run the U.S. Marshals Service, Warren misjudged and fell backward, causing the desk to give way.
Shortly after she fell, colleagues from both parties hurried to her aid, with Ted Cruz and Susan Collins helping Warren to her feet.
Videos of her fall spread on social media on Thursday, prompting mockery from MAGA supporters and podcaster Benny Johnson, right-wing figures who ridiculed the incident.
The incident also reignited concerns over the health of aging lawmakers, as falls are a leading cause of injury for adults 65 years and older with over 3,400 deaths in 2024.
