- The finding sits at 2.6 sigma, corresponding to a 0.5% chance the event stems from background noise, meaning researchers cannot yet claim a discovery without further data collection.
- Lead author Sam Eriksen of the University of Bristol stated, "Importantly, as it's just a single event, we are not claiming that it is dark matter," while the team seeks scientific community input.
