Scammers come to home of elderly Mayfield Heights man to collect nearly $10,000

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio -- A Suffield Road resident reported Sept. 29 that he was a victim of a scam in which he received a phone call from a supposed attorney claiming that his granddaughter was in jail because she was at fault in a car crash involving a pregnant woman.The man, 81, was told that $9,600 in cash was needed to pay bond.
