The Supreme Court agreed to hear, on October 10, a plea challenging the Madras High Court's order refusing a CBI probe into the Karur stampede -- a deadly incident at actor-politician Vijay's TVK rally that claimed 41 lives.

The plea, filed by G S Mani, an apex court lawyer and the vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) state legal cell, has also sought a stay on the Tamil Nadu Police's probe into the Karur incident.
