Sarah Ferguson's new book withdrawn from sale, says Nielsen
Sarah Ferguson's new children's book was withdrawn at publisher's request amid ongoing controversies, with no public explanation given, according to book industry sources.
- Last week, Nielsen reported the children's title Flora And Fern: Kindness Along The Way was withdrawn from sale at New Frontier Publishing's request.
- Initially scheduled for 9 October, Flora And Fern: Kindness Along The Way's release was postponed, Waterstones said last month the date had moved, and Amazon showed a 20 November availability last week before delisting it.
- Industry commentators say publishers see commercial sense in delaying the title, with Neill Denny, Book Brunch, saying, `You have to imagine it's to do with the current controversies` and might hold it for six months or more.
- Charitable groups and some publishers have distanced themselves following revelations, with five organisations and the British Heart Foundation ending ties this year, while HarperCollins says two of Ferguson's titles remain in print.
- More than 50 children's books exist under Sarah Ferguson's name, many featuring her former Duchess of York title, and other publishers have not confirmed if they will sever ties.
