To celebrate the 500th anniversary of the founding of Santa Marta, the Banco de la República issued a new commemorative coin of 20,000 Colombian pesos from July 11th. This piece honors the oldest city in the country and one of the first established in America. In addition to its symbolic and historical value, the coin has legal course, which means that it can be used as a means of payment for its face value, as well as any other in circulation.
