Samsung Now Officially Supports AirDrop, but Only for These Devices
Samsung's update enables Galaxy S26 users to share files directly with iPhones, following Google's earlier AirDrop support for Pixel devices, expanding cross-platform file sharing.
- On March 22, Samsung announced it updated Quick Share to support Apple's AirDrop, rolling out the feature first to the Samsung Galaxy S26 series in South Korea.
- A few months ago, Google began adding AirDrop support to Pixel devices, starting with Pixel 10 and later expanding to Pixel 9, easing cross-platform sharing friction from Quick Share's OS limitation.
- To enable the feature, go to Settings > Connected devices > Quick Share and toggle on 'Share with Apple devices'; Samsung says phones may briefly disconnect from Wi‑Fi when sharing to iPhones.
- Availability will vary by market, Samsung says the feature will roll out to the U.S. later this week and plans to add support to devices beyond the S26 series soon after.
- Samsung now joins other vendors in broadening cross‑platform sharing as the second Android smartphone brand to offer native AirDrop support, with Google's Android Vice President of Engineering planning expanded support in 2026.
