UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 18 – Ryanair reported over 7,000 UK passengers affected by air traffic control staff shortages and strikes, with nearly 3,000 flights canceled across Europe, causing major delays and costs.
- On Wednesday, July 16, Ryanair said `“immediate action”` was needed in Portugal, noting delays affecting over 120 passengers between July 11 and 13.
- French air traffic control staff walked out on July 3 and 4, disrupting tens of thousands and triggering 660 flight cancellations costing £15 million, Jarvis said.
- Ryanair blamed NATS mismanagement and staff shortages, and urged passengers to demand Heidi Alexander sack Martin Rolfe.
- After French strikes extended to July 3–6, Ryanair called on EU President Ursula von der Leyen to reform ATC services, warning passengers will miss further flights without action.
