- On Thursday, Universal announced Oscar-nominated actor Ryan Gosling will star in the upcoming untitled event film from directing duo Daniels, marking their follow-up to their 2022 Oscar-winning hit.
- Directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known collectively as Daniels, gained acclaim for their 2022 feature Everything Everywhere All at Once, which won seven Academy Awards including best picture.
- Though plot details remain under wraps, production begins later this summer in Los Angeles; Kwan described the project as a "fun sci-fi, action comedy with a big heart."
- Gosling joins the project following the massive success of his recent Amazon MGM Studios blockbuster Project Hail Mary, which earned $80 million domestically and $141 million globally.
- Universal scheduled the untitled film for release on Nov. 19, 2027, while Gosling is also set to lead director Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter, currently slated to bow later in 2027.
