Russell Brand: YouTube suspends monetisation of star's channel

  • YouTube has suspended adverts on videos by comedian Russell Brand following accusations of rape and sexual assault against him. Brand's YouTube channels, which have over six million subscribers, will continue to exist but will no longer feature ads.
  • The allegations against Brand have led to investigations by Channel 4, TV production firm Banijay UK, and the BBC. His working relationship with a UK book publisher and a talent agency has also been suspended.
  • As a result of the accusations, Brand's Bipolarisation standup tour has been postponed and a charity supporting women affected by abuse has ended its collaboration with him. Despite the allegations, Brand has received support from high-profile figures including Elon Musk.
