Runnin’ with Rani: Peaman’s Double Biathlon at Kaiakeakua Beach - Hawaii Tribune-Herald

HAWAII COUNTY, HAWAII, AUG 1 – Over 80 athletes competed in the demanding event requiring swimming and running twice, with Archer Ankrum securing victory and continuing a year of top finishes.

KAILUA-KONA — Sunday was the kind of morning everyone hopes for when there’s a Peaman Biathlon event at Kaiakeakua Beach. Clear blue skies and calm water conditions. That was the scene at the start of Sunday’s Peaman Double Biathlon — a gnarly test of both grit and pacing — with athletes required to swim 1/3 mile in Kailua Bay followed by running two miles on Alii Drive, and then, because once wasn’t enough, do it all over again.
