Major construction works on one of the main streets in the Gare district of Luxembourg’s capital are starting to show the extent of the makeover the area is going through in a bid to shed its bad reputation.

For years the Rue de Strasbourg in Luxembourg-Stadt has had a bad reputation. Those who think of the street in the station district often have images of drug crime, addiction problems and street prostitution in their heads. But this picture is only part of the reality. Because between all the dark sides there are also glimpses of light: small cafés, committed businessmen, courageous restaurateurs – people who believe in the neighborhood.
