Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park celebrates Independence Day a week late

Re-enactors dressed in their 18th-century finery were present at Fort Watauga on Saturday to celebrate when the news finally arrived from Philadelphia after a week of hard travel. That news was that the Continental Congress had declared American's independence from Great Britain.
