- On Oct. 27, Rockefeller Center announced the 2025 Christmas tree will come from East Greenbush, New York, donated by the Russ family, Emily Davenport reported.
- Chosen after a photo review, Erik Pauze, Rockefeller Center head gardener, selected the Norway Spruce, about 75 years old and on the Russ family property for over 60 years.
- The tree measures 75 feet tall, 45 feet in diameter, and weighs 11 tons; crews will cut it on Nov. 6 and transport it roughly 130 miles to Center Plaza, Rockefeller Center for Nov. 8 hoisting.
- After arrival, crews will adorn the tree with more than 50,000 energy-efficient LED lights and a Swarovski star, lighting it on Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 7 to 10 p.m. It will stay on display through mid-January before being milled into lumber for Habitat for Humanity.
- The event continues a near-century tradition that began in 1931, and this year's local tree from East Greenbush returns the event to New York after last year's Massachusetts source, Center's Magazine noted the season is picking up steam.
