Rishon Lezion kindergarten takes heavy damage from Iranian cluster munition
The cluster missile caused heavy damage to eight sites, including a kindergarten, with no children present and one man lightly injured by a shockwave, officials said.
On Saturday morning, an Iranian cluster-style missile struck a kindergarten in Rishon Lezion, causing heavy damage with no immediate reports of casualties as air-raid alerts sounded across central Israel.
Authorities said the barrage included several projectiles launched from Iran, including a cluster munition, and Hezbollah in Lebanon continued firing missiles at Israel.
Rishon Lezion city officials reported eight impact sites, while police bomb disposal units and Rescue and Home Front Command teams responded; a man in his 40s was lightly injured, according to Shamir Medical Center.
Education Minister Yoav Kish ordered nationwide in-person class cancellations for Sunday and Monday, shifting all students to remote learning with no exceptions.
Authorities will reassess conditions ahead of Tuesday as heightened security remains active, with shelter orders covering the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, Ashdod, the Shphela lowlands and parts of the West Bank while the military urged the public to avoid impact sites.
