In a talk at the Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR 2025) recently in Nashville, Tennessee, researchers at the Ruhr University Bochum were able to show that watermarks can be surprisingly easily manipulated in images. Watermarks are also used primarily to identify AI-generated images as such, since they are hardly visible anymore.
