Rekha to Receive Excellence in Cinema Award at IFFM 2026, Veteran Actress to Hoist Indian Flag on August 15

Veteran actor Rekha will attend the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2026 as its Guest of Honour and receive the prestigious Excellence in Cinema Award for her extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema.
Celebrating 45 years since its 1981 release, director Muzaffar Ali's masterpiece Umrao Jaan remains a defining work in Rekha's career; the festival will screen the film during the event.
On August 15, the 71-year-old star will hoist the Indian National Flag in Melbourne to commemorate India's 79th Independence Day, joining previous ceremony honorees including Aamir Khan, Shabana Azmi, and Karan Johar.
