- The outage occurred because of degraded performance affecting Reddit's website, which Reddit confirmed at 3:16 p.m. ET and stated they were investigating the issue and implementing a fix.
- Downdetector reported at least 6,000 people reported Reddit being down.
- Some users reported also experiencing issues with X , with over 15,800 reports of problems, though X's services appeared to stabilize later, while others flocked to X to report the issues with both platforms and a user stated "My whole internet is acting really weird. Reddit is down, and now Twitter is acting so slow,".
- Reddit and X did not immediately respond to requests for comment, while Reddit later stated 'a fix has been implemented and we are monitoring the results' on its status page; FOX TV Stations also reached out to both companies for comment.
