Recall issued by Madewell for women's sweaters due to fire risk
Federal safety officials said the 5,900 recalled sweaters can catch fire and may cause serious burn injuries or death.
- On Thursday, July 16, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of about 5,900 Madewell-branded sweaters due to failure to meet mandatory flammability standards, creating a burn hazard.
- The recall involves Madewell Double V-Neck Pullover and V-Neck Cardigan sweaters sold at Madewell and T.J. Maxx stores nationwide from December 2024 through October 2025.
- Consumers can identify affected products by checking sewn-in side seam labels for the "HO24" code. While one sweater caught fire, no injuries have been reported to date.
- Customers must stop using the garments immediately to receive a full refund or store credit. To claim, owners must destroy the sweater by cutting it in half and emailing a photo to Madewell.
